This was a delightful surprise to find at the Oakland Raiders Game at Coliseum yesterday. Humus plate with whole wheat pita, olives, carrots, and celery. YUM!

Last night I made this chile verde for dinner, vegan style with lots of cilantro in it to complement the chiles, tomatillos, onions, garlic, and braised tofu and mushrooms. Served with rice and corn tortillas, it was yummy!

If you want to find good, fresh, natural food at Lake Tahoe, try Sprouts Natural Foods Cafe. When you are coming into South Shore from the Bay Area or Sacramento, it will on your left right before you drive by the lake. It is about a ten minute drive to Stateline. They have an extensive menu.

What can a vegetarian eat in the lobster capital of the US? Tonight in the old town section of Portland, Maine we found the small Mediterranean style Olive Cafe located at 127 Commercial Street across the street from the port. The soup special of the day was Vegan Pumpkin soup, a hot and spicy delicious start to the meal. The menu also featured a Veggie Plate, Mediterranean Plate, stuffed grape leaves and Greek Salad. The charming cafe is small, the food is fresh and well prepared, and the staff was friendly and efficient.

Santa Cruz has a new Japanese Fusion Restaurant called I Love Sushi on Front St. The fabulous menu selection includes a section on Vegetarian Special Rolls. Here is the one I tried (YUM :-)
